Fall Home Prep
Wednesday, October 4th, 2017
Keep your home in check this fall as temperatures drop and fallen leaves scatter the ground. We have a few simple tips for preparing your home for the fall season while enjoying all the wonder that comes with it!
1. Keep the gutters clean
Fall colors are a favorite for many people. However, with the colors comes the falling leaves that can clog gutters around the house. Be sure to do a gutter sweep at least twice during falling-leaf season to ensure proper gutter function when it rains.
2. Get creative with the leaves
Put those pesky fallen leaves to good use! Halloween leaf bags are now available in such retailers as Michaels and Walmart. Fill a few bags for some easy Hallow’s Eve yard decor that are easily disposed of afterwards.
3. Prepare your fall foyer
Never leave the house unprepared. With the beauty of fall comes rainy days and chilly weather. Keep heavier jackets, sweaters, and umbrellas by the door to grab on your way out. Even if you never need them, you’ll always be prepared!
4. Make sure the chimney is clean and safe
Cozy evenings by the fire are a must when fall rolls around. Be sure your fireplace chimney is operating properly before you light the match. Google local chimney sweeps who can inspect your fireplace for safe usage this fall.
5. Inspect the roof
Keep the rain outside this fall and winter. Inspect the roof for cracks and holes and be sure to patch them up while the weather is still decent. Any professional roofing company can perform a routine inspection at low cost.
