Seasonal Kids Crafts to Welcome in the Winter

With the holidays approaching, your children will soon be on winter break, which is always a fantastic time of year to get more quality time together as a family. Since the weather is cooling down, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy your cozy Whitney Ranch home by making some fun crafts indoors with your kids. Light some cinnamon and pine scented candles, bust out the crafting materials, and gather the family to construct these adorable, winter-themed creations.

Polar Bear Masks

Let your inner animal out with these extra cute polar bear masks. They make a great addition to playtime, and they can also be hung up as wintery decorations. For this project, you will need the following materials: paper plates, white tissue paper, kid-safe glue, white cardstock paper, empty plastic fruit cups, white acrylic paint, a black marker, a large black pom-pom, a glue gun (adult use only), a craft knife (adult use only), and kid-safe scissors. You can see the full instructions here.

Homemade Snow Globes

Kids absolutely adore making an interactive craft, and when you can upcycle glass jars in the process, it’s a win-win. All you will need are a few empty glass jars and lids, water, glitter/sequins, superglue/a hot glue gun (adult use only) to keep the lid sealed tight, and any plastic figurines that their little hearts desire to see floating around in their new snowglobe. Pro tip: add some glycerine to make the glitter float better. You can see PBS’s full instructions here.

Egg Carton Penguins

Here’s an upcycled winter craft that makes great use out of empty egg cartons. Cutting out the individual egg cups leaves you with dome canvases that are perfectly-suited for making little penguins. Apart from the egg cartons, this project requires some crafting essentials, like kid-safe paint, kid-safe glue, felt, and googly eyes (of course). This craft can get a bit messy, so we recommend setting down paper on the table and having some towels nearby before you begin. You can see the full instructions here.

Winter Bath Bombs

Looking to make bathtime a blast? These bath bombs are fun to use, have an amazing seasonal smell, and can be made by you and your kids right at home. They also make for excellent gifts for classmates, friends, and teachers. The ingredients in this recipe are easy to find and safe to handle, like the peppermint and vanilla essential oils used to make the bath bombs smell incredible. You can see the full instructions here.
