What better way to soak up the summer sun than heading out for an active adventure around Rocklin and the surrounding area? Whether you’re hiking or biking, taking on these trails is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the striking natural scenery around your Whitney Ranch home. The recommended experience level of the trails we’ve listed runs the gamut from easy to expert, ensuring that everyone can find a path that’s perfect for them.
Pleasant Grove Creek Trail
If you’re looking for a casual hike with plenty of places along the way for the kids to play, the Pleasant Grove Creek Trail is an excellent afternoon trip. The paved road makes for easy walking and is ideal for both road and mountain bikes. It’s bordered by all sorts of fun spots for passive and active recreation, from a dog park and a playground, to areas for soccer, tennis, and basketball. The pleasant 3.8 mile walkway is great for travellers of any age who are seeking a nice, streamside stroll with lots of greenery.
Miners Ravine Trail
For those looking for a lengthier trip and a hearty cardio workout, the Miners Ravine Trail will be your new favorite getaway. The 7.5-mile asphalt trail winds along the ravine’s calmly flowing creek and stretches beneath patches of shady oak trees. While on your run or bike ride, try pulling over for a pit stop, taking off your headphones, and treating yourself to the tranquil sounds of the babbling stream and the bright cheer of chirping birds. Since this path is fairly lengthy, we definitely recommend bringing some healthy snacks and lots of water with you.
Western States Pioneer Express Recreation Trail
Calling all seasoned hikers! This trail delivers the ultimate outdoor adventure. The massive Western States Pioneer Express Recreation Trail is 34.4 miles of dirt and gravel roads running through the remote California wilderness. Following the serpentine course of the American River, this hiking and horseback riding destination was once used to transport limestone from quarries into Auburn. From Rocklin, you can meet up with the Pioneer near its midpoint, leaving you plenty to explore whether you’re headed north or south. Due to the length and terrain of this trail, it is recommended that only experienced, well-equipped hikers traverse it for more than a few miles.
