Brunch Like You Mean It

Friday, June 7th, 2019

It’s no secret we love a good brunch. Is there anything better than great food and day drinking with our people, and preferably al fresco on a lovely covered patio? And if you’re on the lookout for a primo brunch spot, have you seen some of the beautiful California rooms and covered patios here at Whitney Ranch? If the answer’s no, we see a model home tour in your future. . . Plan your visit HERE.

But we digress. We love making brunch, going out for brunch, basically anything involving brunch gets an A+ in our book. Today we’ve rounded up some of our top recipes for hosting a low-key, but fabulously tasty mid-morning meal for you and your crew. If you don’t feel like cooking, we’ve also included some of the best spots in and around Rocklin to meet your pals!

Brunching at home:

The key to hosting a great brunch is menu selection! Dishes should be delicious yet easy to prepare. Even better, those that can be prepped a day ahead or the night before means less stress in the morning and in the kitchen so you can enjoy more time with your friends (and another brunch cocktail, or two, or three ).

Blueberry Baked French Toast

: Sally’s Baking Addiction

It’s a delicious combination of bread, custard, and yummy berries with a sugary cinnamon streusel topping. Best of all, it’s prepped overnight and makes a great no-fuss option with swoon-worthy flavor. Recipe HERE.

Asparagus, Tomato, and Goat Cheese Frittata

: Yellow Bliss Road

Doesn’t frittata sound fancy? Newsflash, it’s so easy to make and a real small-crowd pleaser! Pro tip: Select a good goat cheese for a tasty, velvety texture. Recipe HERE.

Slow Cooker Breakfast Casserole

: Sweet Peas and Saffron

Chop up and throw all the ingredients in your slow cooker the night before and wake up to a house that smells like breakfast. Lay out a spread of toppings too, like green onion, fresh tomatoes and herbs, salsa, avocado slices, and sour cream. Recipe HERE.

Classic Cheese Souffle

: Epicurious

A common misconception about souffles is that they’re fussy and difficult to cook. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Wow your friends with a classic cheese souffle and soak up all the compliments – they don’t need to know it’s a cinch to pull together! Recipe HERE.

Drink this:

Paloma Mimosa

: Delish

The paloma and mimosa mashup is a match made in boozy heaven and is sure to delight your brunch buddies. Recipe HERE.

Bloody Caesar

: The Spruce Eats

Enjoy a fun twist on the classic bloody mary. Swap the standard tomato juice for some Clamato for a bit of nuanced flavor with added spice. Recipe HERE.

Bellini

: The Kitchen Magpie

Peach season is upon us, and while most dream of pies and cobblers, we’re all about bellinis! Recipe HERE.

Best restaurants for brunch:

Mimosa House

It’s named after a brunch cocktail, so you know you’re in for a treat. We can’t get over the omelette and eggs Benedict selections here, not to mention the sweet and savory crepes. Check out the menu HERE.

Four Sisters Cafe

We can’t stop dreaming about the mango French toast and mancakes (bacon and sausage-stuffed pancakes ). Info HERE.

Barn Burner

Two words: sausage gravy. If that doesn’t float your boat, everything else on the menu is A+ too! Check out the restaurant’s Facebook page HERE.

Granite Rock Grill

A little bit country, a little bit rock, this one has something for everyone, from scrambles and  flapjacks to gravy and grits. They have an impressive selection of vegetarian and gluten-free options, too. Info HERE.

Happy brunching!
