Welcome back, Wildcats! Whitney Ranch students are back in school August 14, and it couldn’t be a better time to talk about Whitney High School and how it’s preparing our kids for college, careers, and to be thoughtful citizens and thinkers in today’s ever-changing global economy.

Advanced Placement

Students may take college-level courses in a wide variety of subjects to prepare them for the rigors of college and to receive transferable college credit if they pass College Board-administered examinations. More information and the 2020 examination schedule will be updated HERE

AVID

This program helps teachers and students close the achievement gap and increase college readiness through individual attention, direct one-on-one support, and supportive peer groups. Learn more HERE.

CTE Pathways

The Whitney Career & Technical Education program is a fantastic way for students to actively pursue a field of study and career during high school. In this program, they can learn valuable and transferable skills and competencies that will give them an advantage entering college or the workforce after graduation. CTE Works

Whitney High School is also a participant in Placer County’s CTE Works, a program that matches interested students with more than 600 local businesses to provide hands-on education and training in various careers, vocations, and job functions. Multi-Tiered System of Supports

This team-approach framework is designed to ensure all students are successful in high school. This whole-student philosophy takes into account each student’s strengths, learning style, socio-emotional realities to identify any obstacles and/or challenges to learning and overall school success. Sierra Promise

Whitney High students who commit to the Sierra Promise program will receive an incredible support system to help them better prepare for community college, including help with all of the steps to get into college, workshops to prepare for registration/orientation, earlier access to courses, priority registration, and more.
