August is sure to be a busy month here in Whitney Ranch! There are a ton of Whitney Ranch resident events planned for this last month of summer including National Night Out, Movie in the Pool (where you get to vote for which movie you want to watch!) and Family Bingo Night! We hope you have a fun-filled August!

 

Whitney Ranch Exclusive Events

 

August 4th is National Night Out: a nationwide, annual event designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and unity, raise crime prevention awareness, and develop the partnership between the City and the community. Whitney Ranch will be hosting it’s first National Night Out from 5:30 to 9:30 PM. Residents are invited to join their neighborhood watch group and the Rocklin Police Department for a night devoted to making our community a safer, better place to live. Come to the Ranch House to enjoy music, a bounce house, face painting, and much more. Children will also have the chance to get fingerprinted. Movie in the Pool will be held Friday, August 14 starting at 8:45 PM at the Ranch House Pool. We will be serving plenty of popcorn, but bring your own drinks! Family Bingo night is August 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Join us for a night of family fun at the Ranch House. We will be serving up tons of snacks and have plenty of prizes! Registration will open August 1st at 8:00 AM. Look out for the registration link in your email, the Whitney Ranch App, and on Facebook.

 

College Savings and Financial Aide Workshop is Monday, August 24th at 6:00 PM. Hosted by Gary Kneifl and Gary Peace, this is an excellent opportunity to learn from several financial experts on how to start planning for your child or grandchild's college education! R&B Jam session August 28th from 7:30PM-10:00PM. Join us for free Live Music Jams at the Ranch House. All levels of musicianship are welcome to participate and everyone will have a chance to play or sing. Come out for some great entertainment and to support our talented Whitney Ranch residents. Events In and Around Rocklin, CA

 

PlacerGROWN & Foothill Farmer’s Market will be held every Thursday morning from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rocklin Finnish Hall (Rocklin Road at S. Grove Street). Click HERE to find out which fruits in vegetables are in season to help you create healthy and flavorful meals. This Farmer’s Market will run through August 27 so stop by and enjoy the local produce.

 

The 1st Annual Farmers Market Peach Festival is August 1 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Historic Folsom Farmers’ Market (915 Sutter Street, Folsom, CA). This is a great event for families and admission is free! The festival will feature kids crafts and games, face painting, a balloon artist, peace eating contest, Chef and Canning Demos, and Tons of Peach-Inspired Specialty foods. WaterSmart Gardening WorkshopAugust 8th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Learn how to convert your lawn to a sustainable landscape at this free workshop co-sponsored by California Department of Water Resources, Placer County Water Agency, City of Rocklin, City of Roseville, City of West Sacramento, and EcoLandscape California. Experts will be teaching the community how to remove your lawn, water-smart irrigation techniques and devices, and more tips on how to save water. This Event will be held at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center at Mahany Park. Register HEREby 5 PM on Wednesday, August 5.

 

Don’t forget Food Truck Mania is coming to Johnson-Springview Park every fourth Thursday of the Month. August 27 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM there will be 10-15 food trucks as well as several activities and entertainment throughout the night. Woofstock WeekendAugust 28-30: 2015 marks the City of Rocklin’s eighth annual Woofstock. Woofstock in the largest outdoor festival for dogs in all of North America. This year’s festivities will kick off with “Pups at the Pub” on Friday, August 28, followed by Movie in the Park on Saturday, and the grand Woofstock Festival on Sunday. The festival will include the Woofstock Grateful Dog Rescue Run, Obstacle Course, Weiner Dog Races, 60’s Costume Contest, and much more! This event offers free admission so come out and enjoy a weekend celebrating man’s best friend.

 

The city of Rocklin will be hosting an Open Space Clean-Up at Margaret Azevedo Park on August 29 from 9-11 AM. Help give back and keep our city clean. Margaret Azevedo Community Park is located on the corner of Wild Cat Blvd. and West Stanford Ranch Road. Sign up to volunteer HERE.
